Daiquiri Review Series | New Orleans D&W on Old Spanish Trail
The neon sign says Daiquiris To Go; the door says New Orleans D&W. I know them as Daiquiris To Go at 3602 Old Spanish Trail, the first drive-thru daiquiri I ever visited. The place where it all started.
New Orleans D&W is not the type of place you’d go to hang out, they only have one table, mainly used by customers who are waiting for their food. The location serves 14 signature flavors, with cool names like “Twerk” and “Jamaican Thunder” as well as 25 basic flavors like mango, raspberry, and White Russian.
For this review, I went in, took a few pictures and ordered my regular— the Boosie Bad Azz, made with lime, kiwi, green apple and rum, and an order of the shrimp-fried rice. While this establishment may not be a good place to sit and drink with friends, there are two things that make it worth a visit. The first is that they also have a food menu. The second is that the drinks are STRONG. I took a few sips of my daiquiri on the way home (don’t judge) and I was already feeling it by the time I got home.
They also serve Jello shots and you can mix any two flavors together for a $1 up-charge. After visiting their website, I also discovered that New Orleans D&W has an app. loyalty program, and two other locations—one on Beechnut Street and another on Highway 6 South.
I’d like to visit one of the other locations soon and see how they compare! In the meantime, check out my report card review for the OST location!
